Melbourne Marathon Results + Super Series Update

Melbourne Marathon was just a bunch of fun... ex-Miler Brett Jones put in a great performance in warm, windy and pollen-filled conditions to post a 3:16, while Luke Porter limped home in 3:22.04.

Impact on the Super Series...?

Not big!  Gigi still leads the way ahead of Damien but it is pretty tight with Drenno, Venn and Bishop separated by 3 points.

Redleaf Marathon Week - The Final Results

Eleven years of RMW and every year it gets a huge roll out for something that was considered extremely stupid when Brett Farr came up with it (2008).  In that time there has now been just one person that has run it the full number of times (55!) - and that is the evergreen evergray Damien Gay.

This year we had a total of 30 runners run at least once (25 on friday - who doesn't love the pub?)... we had 15 people run it the full 5 times, and Redleaf was run 103 times in total (distance... about 824k if we generously round up).

For those that ran 5 times, we have your marathon time... fastest was Richard Banks who just pipped Gigi, both just missing out on the magical 3 hours...

But it's not just about speed... consistency counts, and the most consistent runner over the 5 days was Michael Bishop (Phil, Lui and AndrewZ also running particularly consistent times), while the most volatile runners were Harish, Katie and Alan.

Katie Healey was without a doubt the best dressed across the week, earning the most bonus points, with Michael Bishop also getting some over the odds work in.

So it all comes down to the magical mystery Farr Points... which are determined by a combination of your times (taking into account your age/gender), your consistency, and your dress sense.

It was tight at the top, Gigi, Phil and Richard all running fast, all running consistently and mostly well dressed... but the winner was Gigi who's shorts on friday were enough to take him to victory over Rich... if only Rich was a TEAM player... next year you can borrow my Crows guernsey.
